# Suptask MCP

Connect Suptask to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI clients

The Suptask MCP lets you ask an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude about your tickets in plain language. Once connected, the assistant can find tickets, summarize them, count and break down your ticket volume, and report on SLA, CSAT and AI performance across your Inboxes.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to other systems. Suptask is listed in the Claude connector directory and the ChatGPT app directory, so you can add it in a few clicks and sign in. In other AI tools, you add it with the server URL below. There is nothing to install and no API key to create.

```
```

{% hint style="info" %}
The Suptask MCP is included in the new Professional plan and above. It is read-only. The assistant can look up and analyze your tickets, but it cannot create, update, reply to or close them - yet.
{% endhint %}

***

### What you can use it for

* **Get a status overview** — ask which tickets are open, waiting or breaching SLA, per Inbox or across all of them.
* **Find tickets fast** — search by text, requester, assignee, tag, priority, form or date, without building a filter.
* **Prepare reports** — ticket volume by Inbox, form or source, average first reply time, CSAT by agent.
* **Spot trends** — recurring issues, top requesters, or tags that are growing week over week.
* **Measure Suptask AI** — how many tickets the AI resolved on its own and how many it handed to an agent.
* **Combine with your other tools** — use Suptask data together with the other apps you have connected to your AI assistant, like your Slack workspace, docs or spreadsheets.

***

### What the AI assistant can read

Ask in plain language. The assistant finds the data it needs on its own, so you don't need to know which tools it uses.

The assistant can read:

* Your Inboxes and the tickets in them
* Ticket details, such as status, priority, requester, assignee, tags and form fields
* Ticket statistics, such as volume, SLA breaches, first reply time and CSAT
* Suptask AI performance, such as how many tickets the AI resolved without an agent
* Links to each ticket's threads in Slack

{% hint style="info" %}
Your AI assistant may call Inboxes "queues". It means the same thing.
{% endhint %}

The Suptask MCP does not read the replies in a ticket's Slack thread. To include the conversation, add the Slack MCP as well - see [Add the Slack MCP for full conversations](#add-the-slack-mcp-for-full-conversations).

### Before you begin

You'll need:

* A Suptask workspace on the **Professional** plan or above.
* Access to at least one Inbox in Suptask.
* Your Slack account. Suptask uses Slack sign-in, so you authorize the connection with the Slack account you use for Suptask.
* An AI assistant that supports **remote MCP servers**, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
* A plan with your AI assistant that allows adding custom connectors or apps. On company workspaces, an admin may need to allow this first.

#### Connect Suptask to ChatGPT

Suptask is available in the ChatGPT app directory.

1. In ChatGPT, go to **Customize** → **Plugins**.
2. Search for **Suptask** and select it.
3. Click **Connect**.
4. Sign in to Suptask with your Slack account and approve access.

To use it, start a new chat and select **Suptask** from the tools in the message box.

{% hint style="warning" %}
On ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, an admin may need to enable Suptask first. If you can't find it, ask your ChatGPT admin.
{% endhint %}

#### Connect from the command line

If you use an AI coding agent in your terminal, you can add Suptask there too.

**Claude Code**

1. Run:

```
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user suptask https://ai.suptask.com/mcp-server
```

2. Start Claude Code and run `/mcp`.
3. Select **suptask** and choose **Authenticate**.
4. Sign in to Suptask with your Slack account and approve access.

`--scope user` makes Suptask available in all your projects. Leave it out to add Suptask to the current project only.

**Codex (ChatGPT)**

1. Run:

```
codex mcp add suptask --url https://ai.suptask.com/mcp-server
```

2. If the sign-in doesn't open automatically, run:

```
codex mcp login suptask
```

3. Sign in to Suptask with your Slack account and approve access.
4. Start Codex and run `/mcp` to check that Suptask is connected.

**Other AI tools**

Any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers over HTTPS can connect to Suptask, for example Cursor. Add a new MCP server with the URL `https://ai.suptask.com/mcp-server` and sign in when prompted.

### Add the Slack MCP for full conversations

Every Suptask ticket lives in Slack. The Suptask MCP gives your assistant the ticket data and the links to the ticket's Slack threads. The Slack MCP lets the assistant open those threads and read what was said.

Together, they let the assistant:

* **Summarize the full conversation** — the original request, every reply to the requester, and the internal discussion in the Responder channel.
* **Explain why a ticket is stuck** — see what the requester is waiting for, or what the team agreed internally.
* **Enrich tickets with Slack context** — find related messages, channels and people outside the ticket, for example an incident channel about the same outage.
* **Write richer reports** — combine ticket numbers with what customers and colleagues actually said.

#### How to add it

Slack offers an official Slack MCP, available as a ready-made connector:

* **Claude** — open **Settings** → **Connectors**, find **Slack** in the directory and click **Connect**.
* **ChatGPT** — open **Settings** → **Apps**, find **Slack** and connect it.

Sign in with the same Slack workspace that Suptask is installed in. Then turn on both **Suptask** and **Slack** in your chat.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Your Slack admin may need to approve the Slack MCP for your workspace. The Slack MCP can also send messages and edit canvases on your behalf, so review any action your assistant suggests before approving it.
{% endhint %}

### Example prompts

Ask in your own words. Mention an Inbox, a time frame or a person to get sharper answers.

**Overview and workload**

```
Which open tickets in the IT Support Inbox are assigned to me?
```

```
Give me a status overview of all open tickets across my Inboxes, grouped by Inbox.
```

```
Which high-priority tickets have breached SLA this week?
```

**Reports and trends**

```
How many tickets did we receive last month, broken down by form?
```

```
What was the average first reply time per agent in September?
```

```
What are the most common issues in tickets tagged "Access Request" this quarter?
```

**Suptask AI**

```
How many tickets did Suptask AI resolve on its own in the Facility Management Inbox last month, and how many were handed to an agent?
```

**With the Slack MCP**

```
Summarize the conversation on ticket #1947, including the internal notes in the Responder channel.
```

```
For the open tickets waiting on a customer, what is each customer waiting for?
```

```
Find the tickets about the VPN outage this week and check if it was discussed in #it-incidents.
```

### What you can see, and how it stays secure

The assistant acts as you. It only sees your Inboxes and the tickets that belong to them, the same as in Suptask.

* A teammate asking the same question may get a different answer, based on their own Inboxes.
* The Suptask MCP can't change anything in Suptask. It has no tools to create, edit or close tickets - yet.
* The Slack MCP follows your Slack access. It only reads channels and messages you can already see in Slack.

To stop access, remove or disconnect the Suptask connector in your AI client's settings.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Ticket text is written by the people who raise tickets. Always review the assistant's answers before you share them or act on them.
{% endhint %}

***

### Troubleshooting

* **Suptask doesn't show up in the chat** — make sure the connector or app is turned on for the conversation. In ChatGPT, select it from the **+** menu in each new chat.
* **I can't find where to add a custom connector** — your plan may not support custom connectors or MCP apps, or your workspace admin hasn't enabled them.
* **An Inbox is missing from the answers** — you don't have access to that Inbox. Ask a Suptask admin to add you.
* **The assistant can't find a person** — ask it to look up the person first, for example "Who are the top requesters this month?", then follow up with your question.
* **The assistant can't summarize the conversation** — the Suptask MCP doesn't read Slack threads. Connect the Slack MCP.
* **Sign-in fails or shows no tickets** — make sure you sign in with the Slack workspace where Suptask is installed.
* **It worked before and stopped** — disconnect and connect Suptask again to sign in.
